Click on the table headings to sort – this can help you choose routes of a certain distance, difficulty etc.  From the description on this page you can click on the heading to take you to  Mapometer, where you can have a closer look at the route and download the GPX by expanding the “Actions” on the left hand side of the page.

The start point for each route is only a suggestion – you can always choose somewhere else on the route to start.  Most circular routes can be followed in either direction but check the route notes in case there is a reason for doing it as suggested.

Suggested cycle routes

Colwyn Bay – Rhyl Return

30km – Flat – Easy

An easy ride along the coastal bike path. There are two very short hills, but this is about as flat as you will get around here.  The Hub Cafe at the turnaround point in Rhyl is a great place to refuel.

You can start/finish in Rhyl if you prefer.  Starting from Llandudno adds a couple more KM and a hill past the Little Orme.

Llandudno – Rhyl Return

46km – A couple of hills – Fairly easy

A variation on the Colwyn Bay – Rhyl return route.  A little bit tougher but still fairly easy ride. Starts on the road from Llandudno, with a fairly steep hill past the Little Orme. Then along the coastal bike path, where you will encounter two very short hills.

The Hub Cafe at the turnaround point in Rhyl is a great place to refuel.

You can start/finish in Rhyl if you prefer.

Conwy – Llanfairfechan return

25km – Flat – Easy

This route follows the coastal cycle path, although some is on roads.   It is very flat all the way.

Head down to the promenade at Llanfairfechan to visit the café (although it may be closed in the winter).

You can start at Llanfairfechan if you prefer.

Great Orme Loop

9km – Steep in places – Moderate

A short but hilly route.

Marine Drive (around the Great Orme) is one-way (anti-clockwise) until near the end at Llys Helig Drive, but beware that cars have been known to drive the wrong way round.

Great Orme with Summit

14km – Hilly – Fairly tough

A longer and tougher variation of the Great Orme loop.

Marine Drive (around the Great Orme) is one-way (anti-clockwise) until near the end at Llys Helig Drive, but beware that cars have been known to drive the wrong way round.

Pabo Lane Loop

20km – A couple of climbs – Easy

Fairly flat route with a mixture of urban, rural and coastal roads.

Ffestiniog 360

100km – Very hilly – Fairly tough

Some challenging climbs but amazing scenery and plenty of stop off points.

Annual charity event runs opposite direction each year.  https://ffestiniog360.

The Snowman

70km – Very hilly – Fairly tough

Some challenging climbs but amazing scenery and plenty of stop off points.

This route is used in the Snowman Triathlon

Surf Snowdonia to Betws y Coed

30km – Flat – Fairly easy

A nice flat loop. You can park at Surf Snowdonia and have a coffee before you set off.

You will ride on the A470 between Betws y Coed and Llanrwst, but if you follow the route direction there is a cycle path you can use.   Take the foot bridge over the river on the way back.

You can start in Betws y Coed or Llanrwst; but we recommend you stick to the suggested direction.
