GOG Triathlon Club have been well represented over the past couple of weeks in various events across the region.
Last Sunday Harlech Triathlon Club hosted an end of season Aquathlon which comprised of an 800-metre pool swim followed by a 5km run across the dunes and along the beach. In the male race Grant Falconer was the first GOG male to finish in 8th place in 29.54 with Malcolm Harrison finishing 15th and 1st in Age in 36.58. Sasha Jones took the win in the ladies race with a very impressive 5.56 minute swim and 21.48 minute 5km. Her total time was 28.06. In 5th was Mared Dafydd in 30.05. Junior triathlete Caitlin Owen was 6th and first in age in 31.46. Dinah Hazeldine was 12th in 42.12 and Deborah Robinson was 14th in 45.49.
Horrendous weather didn’t deter the triathletes at the Halloween 10km at Porth Eirias on Saturday morning. Youngster James Smith had a superb race clocking 35.36 to take 4th place overall and first in his 11-19 age category. Next home was Adrian Leonard in 7th place in 36.59. He was followed by Joshua White in 44.58, John Farrell in 47.32 and Martin Pritchard in 51.46. Michelle Farrell was the only GOG female taking part and she clocked a 10km PB of 48.32.
Taking on a much longer distance at the Snowdon Marathon in equally challenging conditions on Sunday the GOGs were represented by a hardy few. Neil Vicars Harris finished in 3:59:38. Helen McArthur was first GOG female home in 4.12.34, and in their first marathons Ceri Hughes finished in 4.42.47 and Geri Evans 5.29.31
Abergele 5 mile Road race. The GOG’s fielded a team of five. First home was Geran Hughes in 22nd place overall and 2nd in age in 30.28. Next home was Eduardo Vega Perez in 32.29, he was followed by Andy Jones 33.06, Graham Tunstall 35.10 and Joshua White 38.41.
