Running has been the sport of choice for the GOG Triathletes over the last few weeks. On the Lleyn Peninsula last week Andy Jones and Neil Vicars Harris represented the club in the Pen Llyn Winter Trail Ultra, a 35.5 mile run from Pwllheli. Andy finished the gruelling race in tough conditions in 22nd place overall in an impressive 7.12.51. Neil who was taking on his first Ultra race finished in 37th place in 7.40.20.
In Betws Y Coed the Help for Heroes Trail 10km was also taking place on Saturday. First home for the GOGs was John Farrell in 55.31, he was followed by Gareth Jones in 58.20 and Wayne Jones 1.05.46. Steph Conway was first GOG female home with a 5 minute improvement on last years time 1.00.26. Nicola Tomlinson clocked 1.05.31, with Sarah Massey and Cheryl finishing together in 1.14.34 and Sarah Massey in 1.21.26.
This Sunday saw a good contingent of GOGs take on the Run Wales Conwy Half Marathon. Results were not available when going to print. However those taking part included Bleddyn Evans, Graham Tunstall Steve Dutton, Rich Smith, Rob Stewart, Gareth Williams, John Farrell, Paula Stephens, Steph Conway, Sarah Stewart, Cheryl Stewart, Michelle Farrell, Sarah Marriott and Sonja Griffiths.
Finally Ann d’Albuquerque was selected to race for Wales in the British & Irish Cross Country Championships in Aintree on Sunday. Ann finished 5th in her age group and the combined team efforts earned the Welsh ladies a bronze medal.
