Snowman & Westminster Triathlons. Sprint Distance European Triathlon Championships in Russia. July 2019

GOG Triathletes were in action at the Always Aim High Snowman Triathlon races at Plas Y Brenin over the weekend. The Sprint race took place on Saturday along with the Mymbyr Mile Swim. Chris Wynne finished the sprint in 01:35:04 and Tom Johnson 01:55:32. As part of his training for the Great Orme Charity Swim around the Great Orme Carlo Galeotti took on the Mymbyr Mile and ended up on the podium for second in age in 26.41. Ali Barber took first female in age in 31.37.

The Standard race on Sunday was part of the Welsh Super Series and attracted a competitive field from across the Principality. However the GOGs had a home advantage on the notoriously difficult course. Jack Smith Keegin flew down Moel Siabod to take third place in a fantastic time of 3.18.32. He was followed by Simon Cole in 6th place in 3.28.00. Gareth Bowyer was next to cross the line and take first in his 50+ age category in 3.35.07. Simon Roxburgh clocked 3.56.51, Tom Burke 4.54.22, Ian Jones 5.18.00 and Josh White 5.20.52. For the ladies Rhain Roxburgh raced well to take second place overall in a super time of 3.35.20. Next home in 11th place was Emer Sandham in 4.21.14. She was followed by Mared Dafydd in 4.37.29, Paula Stevens 5.24.40 Debs Jones 5.36.59, Tabita Angle Smith in 5.56.20 and Stephanie Conway 6.07.27.

Further afied in London some of the GOG Squad attended the Westminster Olympic Distance Triathlon. In a male field of over 1400 triathletes the GOGs ended up closely bunched with Bleddyn Evans posting a time of 2.38.37, Ashley Tomlinson 2.39.23, Simon Hick 2.42.16  Andrew Ellwood 2.43.05 and Rob Stewart 2.48.46.

Finally, GOG international triathlete Paul Algieri was competing for the GB Age Group Team this weekend in Russia at the Sprint Distance European Triathlon Championships. He performed well across the disciplines to finish in 6th place in a time of 1.12.21.
